Internet Theft

Most photographers have found themselves upset to find their photos plastered all over some blog without their permission and payment for the use of the images.  This is frequently twisted to be called free advertising or free exposure for the photographer.  I could swallow that one IF construction and mortgage companies gave free homes to all as part of their advertising, or Ford gave a free car to everyone who logged onto the internet as part of their advertising… but for some funny reason they won’t do it.

Maybe it is time we start calling this what it is – theft.  Musician Don Henley speaks out on this issue and the cost not only to artists but the American economy as a whole here: http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/forum/2011-08-21-counterfeit-copyright-protect-ip-act_n.htm

It’s well worth taking the time to read.
